I Love Love Love the fashion in Beyonce's video "Who Run The World (Girls)", the only problem was for a couple of the pieces I was hearing and reading different things. So I was in the process of figuring out my next move for this spring, because of course I am done with winter already. So in my travels I came across the 10 biggest trends of spring/summer 2011. I will disclose then tell you which trend Mr. Marc will own come spring season.

1) Carrot Pants: Like harem pants, but not as baggy. I would prefer you go with a pant with a crotch that isn't at maximum droop. A true style junkie will know the difference. (This trend isn't for everyone)

2) Beige: One of the biggest color palettes of the season. The more more of this color the better. But remember if this is a color that washes you out try pieces (pants, t-shirts, shoes) and mix them with other colors of the season such as citrus, denim, navy or a darker green. (Trend approved)

3) Citrus: Also another color that made it big this season... Citrus would be your Lemons, Limes, and Oranges. I'm personally a fan of color. Its fun to play around with and cute when done appropriately. (Trend approved)

4) Baggy Tees) Its not your average lounge shirt... The over-sized tee is making its way into a fashionable closets near you. Burnout, colorblock, v-neck or crew neck, as long as it looks like a over-sized tee and not a shirt dress, you are good to go. My huskier guys this is more so for gentlemen of a small to medium built. depending it can come off a little feminine. (This trend isn't for everyone)

5) Mid-thigh Shorts: Its all about the perfect pair of shorts. Not too tight, not to baggy, just the right cut, just the right length. Do this right and you'll be all the rave. Do this wrong and you'll be all the gossip. And if you watch Gossip Girl, you know to be gossiped about is bad. Shorter guys this would be a nice trend for you. (This trend isn't for everyone)

6) Military: This trend is taking on a life of its own. Its becoming more of a staple than a fad. The military look has survived the last few years and a multitude of seasons. It doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon. Its one trend you can't go wrong with. (Trend approved, though a little tired of it)

7) Denim: All denim is here to stay as well. Mix and Matching denim is bigger than its ever been and I don't see it going anywhere. (Trend approved)

8) The Black Trench: Knee Length, double breasted, in all black. Sounds chic and dangerous at the same time. But a trench can make a short guy look even shorter so be careful. (This trend isn't for everyone)

9) Double-breasted suits: I encourage everyone to get one... That's All! (Trend approved)

10) Nautical: It makes its way to the trends trending topics every spring/summer. When you think of luxe, rich and lavish with a easiness that can be accomplished by virtually anyone, you think nautical. This seaside look is my favorite and the best part is, It's simple. (Trend approved)

And I figure you guessed that the Seaside look will once again be mine to obtain for the spring. It just makes me feel good, though I will be throwing the Beige look in there as well. I think I would look great in an all beige getup.

JERKISH TIP 29: Customer Service Not Customer Servants

JERKISH TIP 29: THEY ARE NOT CUSTOMER SERVANTS... Have you every been to a store and seen a random person treat a service representative so bad that it made you embarrassed to even be a witness. Well try being the sales representative, its feels as bad as it looks. Going into work in a great mood only to leave feeling low and depressed. Feeling like a slave to people who are no different than you are. Having money, clothing, or auto parts thrown at you all day long. And to never hear as much as thank you for having to put up with someone's insane request. It's enough to make you want to end it all... I mean quit that is. Without dedicated people to service you, and make sure that the shirt your mother bought you that's two sizes too small can be returned or to check to see if there's a better phone plan that suits your needs, we as a society would be screwed. We need to respect our customer service attendants and give them our upmost cooperation. Not bash them because we are having a bad day. Below you will find 5 helpful tips to assist in being more consumer friendly...

1) Be aware of body language. The moment you walk up to a sales representative, they are reading your body language. Everything from your mannerisms to your tone of voice. They are trained to read people in order to brace themselves in case a negative situation arrives. Don't be that situation. Always smile and talk with your inside voice. Give them a chance to aid you the best way they know how.

2) Do not take your problems out on them. We all have bad days, other people should not have to suffer because you found out your husband was cheating or because you can't control your wild teen. If thats how you are feeling THEN STAY HOME!!!

3) When purchasing, place cash in hand. There is nothing worst than having money thrown at you all day long. You are not at a strip club so there is no reason to make it rain on innocent workers that are not using a pole as a mean of support.

4) Do not steal. I know it goes without saying, but at the end of the day it has to be said. If you decide to steal, be okay with the consequences. Do not get irate because you were caught. These people are only doing their job. If someone came into your house stealing would you just let them walk out with your stuff and be okay with it?

5) Say thank you... Trust me it goes a long way.

As human beings we shouldn't need etiquette lessons on how to shop, but I have been witnessing the most awful situations and I commend anyone in the customer service field who has to put up with that mess.

Hello all...

I know its hard to keep a fan base when you are consistent for a couple of weeks then fall off the face of the earth for about a month (or two). I have been mad busy shooting and trying to put myself out there. This styling game is really hard especially when you're a manager for a major retail chain, go to school, and travel (styling from city to city for free). But now that the weather is getting cooler it leaves a lot more time to focus on my writing.

By the way, I have been keeping up with my current events and though I have a little news the fashion world is awfully quiet right now, so I'll be using up all of my resources to get you the best stuff.

What I have just given you, is a look into pure genius. Well... Maybe that's going a little too far, but this is great stuff. These are Photos from Tom Fords 2010 Fall/Winter lookbook. The textiles are amazing, the Fabrics are rich, this is heaven on your body.

I do Have three small concerns though...

What's wrong with Jon? Tom He's looking a little emaciated and because I love his work this concerns me
Who are the new guys? I like the one with the curly hair though, I see myself wanting everything he has.
If you are accepting new recruits, why is there no color??? And come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen a colorful face. I'm not questioning your motives Tom, I'm just asking.

So in my magazine travels yesterday I was reading this months issue of Marie Claire and ran across the article about the Project Runway challenge. If you don't remember or watch for that matter, the new season eight cast had to design a look inspired my the Marie Claire magazine. The winning look got to be in the magazine and it also received a HUGE billboard in Time Square. Contestant Gretchen Jones won the challenge with a navy jumpsuit that was sell fitting and Marie Claire appropriate. Also the Outfit was modeled by "IT" girl Coco Rocha. As I read I realized that Ms. Rocha also has a blogspot and I always love to see what others are doing to I immediately went to her site and I must say I was impressed. It was funny, easy to navigate and she definitely had a voice. The blogspot is called www.ohsococo.blogspot.com. here's one of the videos that's on her page...

The site is full of her model dealing, which is like a backstage pass for you fashion lovers. Brimming with behind the scenes photos and videos from her day to day model life.

First Up: Burberry Prorsum

2011 Spring/Summer

The above photo is a still from the recent Burberry show in London. But before I get into that, lets build this up shall we... I like to start off my season's reports with the people I absolutely loved the previous season. That being Burberry, Chole, Balenciaga and Vera Wang just to name a few. This year I decided to start with the brand that still burns a hole in my mind with their double shearling collars, Burberry Prorsum. The show got not so great reviews and the NY Times really gave it a beating (http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/22/burberry-killer-heels/?ref=style), but all in all I didn't think it was that bad. The Studded Leathers were young and fun and I could see those making every editorial photo shoot and on the backs of the young elite. The Cropped Trenches were also adorable. It was fabric choice that threw me off a little. Lots of Leather. I guess you are transitioning from winter to spring when these clothes hit the store but I wanted something a little more airy and softer. I can't say I was a fan of the quilted pants and leggings though. On the wrong person I see them being a disaster. And a few of the frocks were plain, and short to the point of ass-posure, but over all I liked the collection.

Now lets get to tippy tumbles you see in the photo. As cute as the shoes were, you can clearly see that the girls had a hard time walking in the 4inch booties and pumps. The girl you see above started off with her feet crushed and hurting and struggled the whole show. So it was no surprise when she tipped over and almost lost it towards the end. So Chris my good friend you might want to do a once over on the footwear...

Therapy... All work and No Play

It's hard trying to push a career in the arts. There are 100,000,000,000,000,027 stylist and just as many bloggers, designers, fashionistas and so forth. So trying to make yourself a little more special than everyone else seems near to impossible. I've tried combining a few of these trades just to make myself the ultimate renaissance man. I write, style and dress well. Combined with the fact that I'm tenacious, committed, charming, humble and willing to learn as much as I can in this short life that I have to learn it. SO WHY IS THIS SO HARD!!! LOL, I guess nothing is easy but Geewiz. This question dawns on me from time to time, but it really took me on a ride today as I spent the first five hours of my day sending my portfolio to Agencies, applying for internships and following up with potential dream jobs. They say hard beginnings make for humble endings. So I'll continue to put my best foot forward, but I just hope that something comes from this soon. I'm not getting any younger you know.

The Infamous Black Dress...

So I'm not sure if you guys caught the VMA's. The actual show was a snooze fest. But some of the fashion definitely made the yawn awards worth watching. But as always the biggest fashion stare was MS. GAGA. The first number she wore was an Alexander Mcqueen dress (which I hated with all my heart by the way). But I must say the second dress she wore which was a Giorgio Armani Gown in all black had to be my favorite of the night. It was hauntingly fabulous. And in my travels I came across the two sketches Mr. Armani made for GAGA before deciding on the black gown. I love the Tux, But Armani definitely created a win-win situation.

really inspire me and lets me know I picked the right profession.

So... I don't know if you guys know, but last year because of my adult responsibilities, I was unfortunately unable to attend last years first annual FASHION'S NIGHT OUT event. It pained me but life goes on. But because the fashion gods refuse to let a talented soul like myself miss another year of fashion, fun and events I was able to make my Marc on the affair this year. The trip to New York with my three close friends was great. But because we left my home town of Philadelphia so late, the hour an a half ride turned into a three an a half ride from hell, once realized how late it was getting. I was expected to attend a fashion show at 6:30pm in Brooklyn before hitting Fashion's Night Out, but with the clock reaching 8:30pm and events ending at 10pm, that only left an hour an a half to make the most out of the fashion filled night. Needless to say, I grabbed the hand of my best friend and headed down fifth ave. running, leaving my other two friends behind to enjoy the show in Brooklyn. It was a night to remember. We seen Nigel Barker at the Lord & Taylor on fifth ave. We seen all the exciting and exclusive clothes and displays stores had to offer. We made a stop at the new 90,000sq ft. Forever 21 in Time Square. We ran into Anthony Williams from season 7 of Project Runway as he was making his way to Saks. I found the coat of my dreams, resembling something of the Burberry collection from the 2010-2011 Fall/Winter collection. And My friend and I were even offered Jobs by the District manager of ESpirit. Needless to say I had a ball.

If you guys are wondering, the feedback about the show in Brooklyn was less than exciting. Thank Goodness for the executive decision to do the night out.

Now its time to Hit the Ground Running. Next year I want to be invited to the Actual fashion week events. but one step at a time.

Since Miss Rowland stepped onto the scene with Popular late 90's girl group Destiny's Child, we all thought she would be destined for success, (at least in America anyway). After surviving eliminations making it to the top two with Tenitra "Michelle" Williams, It was only up for the trio... Well years later, failed album after failed album and a style to match the albums success, its safe to say we were wrong. I guess the top was pretty far. Why be lonely at the top when you can miserable in the middle. I hope next year Kelly we will graciously be giving you the award Ciara won this year.

Though FW 2010-2011 was very lackluster, there were a couple collections that really got my mojo going. Vera Wang's was definitely one of them. Achromatic, with plenty of shape and texture, not to mention styled to a "T", this collection was a fashionable Upper Eastside woman's dream. Whether an adolescent in need of a funky cocktail dress, or Working wowan 24-45 with an impeccable taste for the finer things, This collection had a little something for everyone. I loved the hair, the make-up, the accessories, the shoes and most importantly the clothes. If you don't know by now, I relate most things I love in fashion to Gossip Girl. What can I say, the wardrobe stylist is doing a FANTASTIC job. And if this person knows like I know, They would be trying to find ways to incorperate these pieces into the mix. This collection, which may highlight three pieces that are actually wearable, has to be one of my favorite fashion shows of all time. This show is one of the reasons I enjoy the industry so much. Being as though you guys know I'm very bias when it comes to sneakers, it should be no surprise that all of them are high-tops. On my short list there are two that I highly recommend among the rest. The first pair are the Tokyo sneakers by Jimmy Choo. These sneakers are apart of the brands first sneaker collection and I have to say, though plain, these sneakers make me happy. I love the simple things. The second pair which surpass the rest are the Killers by FOREX. The Italian brand produced a pair of sneakers that satisfies any foot's A.D.H.D. These shoes are layered with enough textiles and studs to bring attention to the dullest of outfits.

Okay so do I really need to go into depth with this topic.... Ladies Makeup is used to enhance what you already have. You need a little more lash, try mascara. Need to even out that skin, try a little foundation. Need to make those eyes pop, a little color will do. You see where I am going. But at the end of the day all these funky colors and crazy makeup just makes you look less desirable unless you're going for that whole Joker, Mimi (from the Drew Carey Show), prostitute look. Remember if you are going to beat your face around the block, you might as well not wear any make-up at all. And Fellas its 2010 can we stop dying our hair all these funky colors with awful designs. I'm all about individuality, but there is a time and a place. The last I looked Halloween came once a year. Its "Late" (corny, not on time, out dated, sad) and you just need to stop.

One of the books that I picked up and recommend is "I Love Your Style, How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style" by Amanda Brooks. This book would be great for those who love magazines. Its not a hard read at all. The book is full of fashion advice, personal stories, style icons and pictures. Lots and Lots of pictures. its an easy breezy book full of vintage "know how" and current "say so". The second book I picked up and recommend is "Things I Wish My Mother Had Told Me, A Guide to Living with Impeccable Grace and Style" by Lucia van der Post. This book would be for you girls who need a little extra help in the etiquette department. The author took her life discoveries of "know how and say so" and turned it into a 368 pages of advice. From practical tips and first hand recommendations, to embarrassing stories and life lessons Lucia takes you on a journey to become the best you in case your mother wasn't around to tell you to say "Please & Thank You". I bought other books such as "The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales" and "Holiday on Ice" by David Sedaris, but since this is a fashion blog those purchases will be discussed another time.

Now I know you all might be wondering What makes Beyonce a Fantasy... Well Honey B can put on one hell of a show. Bright Lights, big music, Big personality, with bigger hair. She is one of the greatest talents of our generation. Off stage is another story. Beyonce tends to have Janet Jackson syndrome. She becomes very lackluster. Her voice is very faint, she gets all silly and giggly and at times can be a little lifeless. Unfortunately she has the wardrobe to match this monotonous personality. But every so often Sasha shows her face off stage and takes over Beyonces interior and exterior. The photo above proves at times the fanciful production Sasha puts on can also translate in real life. Here, Beyonce edged out a pink Chanel tweed jacket with a pair of 3inch cut off shorts, a graphic-tee, jewelry and sunglasses. The look is simple and fab and any young solicalite would love it. For Beyonce its a change from the messy, dull, unappealing style, her and her stylist conjuers up on any normal day of the week.. She is a vision of Fabulousness and in this picture she looks like a Fantasy (to me).

On March 6, 2010, the Orlando Regional History Center had an "Out of This World" Fashion Show, which Featured ADT Design Students and their Comic Book Superhero and Villain inspired garments. Celebrity Judges for the Event included, Chris Kirkpatrick (NSync), Sven Bode (Orlando Style Magazine), Ben Chmura (Season 7 Project Runway), Jesse LeNoir (Season 7 Project Runway), and (not-interviewed) Douglas Nesbitt. I lowkey love comic books and openly adore fashion, so anytime designers combines the two, I'm ecstatic. Remember these garments are not to be wore on the streets (unless your Lady GaGa), they are meant to imitate art.

Mert Alas from Turkey and Marcus Piggott from Wales met in London in 1999 and have been a killer duo ever since. They first gained recognition when they did their first project for the magazine Dazed & Confused. This gig actually bought the duo their first editorial. The magazine was so impressed, they were kind enough to make one of the images the cover page photo. Their resume includes projects done for Pop, W, Vogue and Numero magazine. Also they worked with desirable brands such as Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli, Bulgari and Fendi just to name a few. Their images are the epitome of fantasy and originality.

A Change Is Coming

Sitting in my dungeon, as I contemplate my next move, my next job and my next topic for the blogsite, I start to think about my future and whats to come (I do that sometimes when my A.D.D kicks in). In the midst of me trying to become a top notch style guru, writer, stylist, and all around renaissance man, reality sets in and I wonder where my career in fashion is leading me. After have successfully shooting for my portfolio and styling different projects for a year in a half, blogging for about 2yrs and continuously working and going to college for lord knows how long, I finally came to the conclusion that it is time to grab the bull by the horns. I'm not one to sit still and let life pass me by. I realized with all these creative gifts that were given to me and the amount of work I've put in over the past few years, that its time to make a dramatic change. Maybe a move to a new city, to start up my clientele, to write for a small column, to do anything besides sit in my prison like a Disney character and daydream my life away. With such a profound epiphany where does that lead me? I don't really know. But what I do know is a change is coming. Not really sure when or where. I have a pretty good Idea, but I don't want to jinx it. I'll K.I.T

One of my favorite looks for this spring/summer for men and women is the Nautical Look. Because this is my favorite Trend this season for men and women, there will not be two post. I'm going to have to ask that you all read carefully. I usually do a look for less or post my interpretation of the look for men and then another for women, but since I'm doing the same trend for both sexes the style will be broken down into words instead of graphics. I know many people do not want to do what others are doing in fashion and like to stay in the fullness of time, but because everyone seems to still be stuck in the year of the shoulder, this fad will keep you on pace with the season and ahead with your competitors...

The Focal points to this look are strips, light-weight cable knit, khaki and denim

Color Palette: Red, Navy, White, Light Grey, Khaki and Black

MEN: To achive a successful nautical look all you need are:

-Striped Tees (crew or V)

-White or light Denim or pants (cuffed)

-Khakis

-Light weight double breated jacket

-windbreaker

-chambray shirt

-boating shoes or loafers

-canvas sneakers

-anything with a crest

-white, red, navy blue, or striped(no more than two colors in the stripe) accessories.

Women: To achive a successful nautical look all you need are:

A going away Party to be talked about for decades to come Priceless...

The Event was fashionable, well put together and super chic. My friends looked great, The guest looked wonderful and there was an excellent vibe circulating the premises. All in all it was the going away party that five of the closet friends could ask for, two of which are not going anywhere. LOL. I want to wish friends Jo'marr, Mychael and Jarell a very safe trip to ATL. and I wish you much success.

Picture it, New York city 2010...

This will be the day that I realize that my future was written. What I thought was going to be just a trip to toy with my now unsecured destiny, ended up being one of the most fulfilling excursions of my natural life to date. I have been a little unsure about my school situation for sometime now and a few weeks back a recruiter from the Academy of Art University contacted me, asking me to travel to NY for an open house the school was having. He said that this could be a great look for me and that I should consider, so I RSVP'ed myself and two week later there I was at 53rd & 7th inside the Sherton willing to hear out someone that could shine a little light on my situation. After a very convincing 30min. presentation I was sold on the school. Immediately after I spoke with the nicest spokesperson that the Academy could offer up. She asked me questions and spoke to me as if we were old acqaintances who haven't seen or spoken to one another in years. Then she looked at my porfolio turning each page slowly as if she were reading a NY bestseller. She was literally a pleasure. Afterwards I filled out my application for the school and in the process was handed two tickets to see the Academy of Art University fashion show. This sounded ok, until I found out that the show was being held inside the tents of Bryant Park. That's right, I made it into an actual Fashion Week show. The top 5 graduating seniors were presenting their collections... Once inside I sat forth row and skimmed the crowded. My Eye immediately cut to Marc Jacobs himself. I was in shouting distance with the man who help revolutionize grunge fashion and assisted in bringing back shoulder pads. It was amazing. Not to mention that the talent coming out of this school was a wonder in its self. The experience was mind blowing.

After the productive Saturday I had, talking to the representatives of the school, going inside the tents, I knew on that bus ride back to Philadelphia that I chose the right career path and being in Bryant Park assured everything I've worked so hard to accomplish. I LIVED!

Bulky double-breasted wool overcoats, leather shearlings, slim trousers, over-sized cardigans, denim shirts, crewneck sweaters and hi-leg boots mixed with an elaborate runway with Burberry projecting onto the catwalk. This was Burberry Prorsum's men's 2010 fall/winter showcase. The collection was a dream. Without one suit in this 45 look assemblage, the keyword this season for Burberry was Outerwear. The coats were astonishing, the sweaters were colossal and snug and the boots were as high as they were on the old English soldiers of the 1700's. Not to mention Christopher found a way to make the trendy military look just as relevant for next fall as it was for this season. This was definitely one of my favorite shows of fall/winter 2010.

Talk about reinvention... Chris you put your foot in this collection.

JERKISH TIP #37: Everything Right About Wearing White

So rumor has it that wearing white after Labor Day is still a big fashion no no... WRONG!!! The fashion rules our parents and the ones before them had to follow are long gone. Like evolution, fashion is evolving. With the fashions of the past becoming modern trends, hair stylist finding ways to make big hair as relevant as it was in the 80's and early 90's and shows such as "Mad Men" and "Gossip Girl" guiding the new breed out of baggy jeans and T-shirts and into preppy casual, dresses and suits, its safe to say fashion is continuously changing. Rules such as not wearing white or the brightest brights after Labor Day are long gone... With So many textures and Fabrics and different color variations, wearing what you want has become easier and less of a fashion crime. There are still ways of going about this, don't get me wrong, certain things such as "White Linen" and "Seersucker" are still very much spring and summer attire. So don't go telling your friends The Jerk said its okay to do such foolishness. But if you want to throw on a pair of white jeans with a heather grey cardigan be my guess. The possibilities are endless.

It's nothing more exciting then catching our favorite celebs enjoying everyday life, well their everyday life...

Spotted, My favorite group of Manhattan's elite Serena Van der Wilson (Blake Lively), Chuck Bass (ED Westwick) and Blair Wardorf (Leighton Meester). Leighton attended the opening for Klutch Classy in a Christopher Kane dress in Yves Saint Laurent platforms (Stunning). Ed was spotted making a few Christmas purchases at the Armani Exchange store. Not my favorite place, but twas the season. And "IT" girl of 2009 Blake Lively at the premiere of Sherlock Holmes in a insanely sexy Dolce & Gabbana number. Even outside of Gossip Girl, the cast exudes great style.

Here we have the Kanye West I know and love with Lady in hand Amber Rose attending the premiere of Avatar. How do we feel about that Burberry Prorsum Boot? Well I love it. She's half classy, half trashy. I love it, I love it, I love it.

But when they are not doing premieres, they are just taking random shopping strolls. Kanye has on a Balmain Denim Jacket and Balenciaga chinos, but if I can point your attention to the footwear, him and his lady have on his and hers Air Jordan Retros. AWWW... Love is in the air.

Madonna and Lourdes (who if I were doing a top 11 "IT" girls of 2009 would have definitely made my list) were in attendance at the premiere of Nine (said to be the must see movie of 2009/2010) Both head to toe in Dolce & Gabbana. FAB!!!

Let Me guess, All you Rihanna stans think she looks Amazing! Well sorry, I sadly disagree, I'm not into Farm couture. The overalls look like she had an accident on herself and she just looks out right silly. But I will not deprive you of knowing that the overalls are Jean Paul Gaultier for Levi's, I guess that makes a difference to you. I still think she tries to hard now a days. I want Good Girl Gone Bad RiRi Back with the cute couture pieces and razor sharp bob haircut.

Mr. West has once again decided to do another collaboration with the Japanese brand A Bathing Ape. Kanye Will be the male Muse for the brands 2009 look book. Now late am I, Yes, but so is the brand. The all over printed hoodies are so five years ago. Remember every Urban junkie would pair his Ape hoodie with his Icecream sneakers. Now from the looks of it, its not all childish print and garmets that zipper over the face. Besides the plain pieces, the rest I wouldn't ge caught dead in. But there is an audience for everything I guess. Now this leaves me with you Mr. West, I expected your A Bathing Ape phase was long gone after you did "Wouldn't Get Far" video with the Game, but I guess not. We'll see How far this will be carried out, but I'm sure it "wouldn't get far"... Sorry I couldn't resist.
